Tools and Materials We’ve Used
Here are some of the many materials and tools that have been used on projects we’ve been involved in over the years.
Karcher AF 30 air purifier
We have recommended the Karcher AF 30 air purifier to a few clients who needed to remain in their homes during a renovation. We suggest using 'dust doors' to keep construction dust from travelling into the inhabited parts of the house, then using an air purifier within the inhabited room to remove any harmful particulates from the air.
The Karcher AF30 purifies air in rooms up to 30m³, and is very quiet. We've found it to be quieter than a DVD player when in use. It has a night mode which turns off the lights on the device and keeps the fan speed low, so as not to disturb your slumber.
Tungsten Carbide Scrapers
Sometimes it’s necessary to remove paint from wood to get good adhesion for airsealing tapes, such as the junction between a staircase stringer and the plasterwork. Tungsten carbide scrapers can be an excellent tool for removing this material quickly when compared to sanding or paint stripper. A combination of straight-edged scrapers, concave and convex scrapers can be used to remove paint on all sorts of surfaces.
